Freedom to travel...

It has been a very busy two weeks!!! As a result I have been unable to break free to provide updates on my efforts to make it to South Korea this summer to volunteer in the Nehemiah Global Initiative Unification English camp. And perhaps my level of busy-ness has been for the good as I awoke to an AMAZING piece of news yesterday.

As you have likely heard by now, the leaders of both North and South Korea met today at the Demilitarized Zone to shake hands, discuss a resolution for peace, and talk about the denuclearization of North Korea. While most of the world expected very formal talks behind closed doors, Kim Jong -Un walked out of the entrance of Panmungak Hall and excitedly crossed to the center of the DMZ to shake hands with South Korean President, Moon Jae-In. The two smiled, embraced, and at the end of the day struck a peace agreement recognizing the official end of the Korean War, and formally began talks on how to denuclearize the North peacefully. This of course doesn't mean freedom for the people of North Korea. But, it does mean that there has been a change of heart stirring at the height of the North Korean government, and this could be a signal of change for the people. For now, it means a greater degree of security and safety for our journey to South Korea this summer to work with North Korean students.

With regard to the trip, things are slowly moving along. Each day brings a little more progress, albeit small progress. And while I find myself getting antsy about that progress, I have to remind myself daily that it will unfold and come together in God's perfect timing.

This past week we got Hailey's passport renewed, I began building a database so that I can mail out “Thank You” cards, and I also set up our Go Fund Me page, which I have launched today. I will be working weekly to post updates, and create rewards levels tied to gifts for donors. If you've ever done one of these campaigns before, you now how much is involved. However, the commitment and work is worth it. Each steps gets us closer to Korea, the English Language Camp, and our opportunity to work with North Korean students. The direct link to that campaign is:

I still have some items in my Etsy shop. I will gradually migrate these items over to the Go Fund Me page at the $30 donation level. If you've had your eye on a specific necklace, today is your chance to pick one up. Once they get to my Go Fund Me page, they will be sent out randomly to donors of the $30 level.

In closing, our fundraising efforts have pulled us to the $600 mark. And while this is significant progress is a short amount of time, we still have a long way to go. There are three ways that you can help us right now.
  1. Help us pray about this trip.
  2. We are still in need of financial partners. Please consider how you can support us.
  3. Share our story, and our campaign. Our family and friends are our most powerful asset.
Wishing you all well, and looking forward to what we're going to do together.

- Kelly
