Freedom to travel...

It has been a very busy two weeks!!! As a result I have been unable to break free to provide updates on my efforts to make it to South Korea this summer to volunteer in the Nehemiah Global Initiative Unification English camp. And perhaps my level of busy-ness has been for the good as I awoke to an AMAZING piece of news yesterday. As you have likely heard by now, the leaders of both North and South Korea met today at the Demilitarized Zone to shake hands, discuss a resolution for peace, and talk about the denuclearization of North Korea. While most of the world expected very formal talks behind closed doors, Kim Jong -Un walked out of the entrance of Panmungak Hall and excitedly crossed to the center of the DMZ to shake hands with South Korean President, Moon Jae-In. The two smiled, embraced, and at the end of the day struck a peace agreement recognizing the official end of the Korean War, and formally began talks on how to denuclearize the North peacefully. This past week has been very busy, filled with planning, prepping, investigating, financial forecasting, lists, and lists of lists. A few nights ago I photographed, prepped, and began to catalog donated items for my various waves of fundraising. And while the trip is still a ways off, I know that time will pass very quickly so I have to get moving! First, I want to give you all an update. For the past few weeks I've been busy completing projects, taking on freelance jobs, selling off more personal items, and tucking away money where I can in order to get this trip off the ground. I also have been very fortunate to have had some folks partner with me right away and put money down toward everything. All of this has pushed me close to the $500 mark. The Beginning...

Where does one truly begin to talk about being presented with an opportunity that has been just a dream for over five years, and how that dream has suddenly become a reality? Well, I guess we have to start at the very beginning. Back in the winter of 2012 I found myself struck with the question of: “Isn’t there more to life than waking up, clocking in, clocking out, going home, preparing for bed, rinse and repeat?” I mean if we, in a predominantly Christian identifying country, believe that we are all created with unique gifts, talents, skills, and assets, and are created as reflections of God, then why aren’t we in fact seeking to rise higher, reach further, achieving greater, dive deeper, and impact our world in a more dynamic, God glorifying manner that honors and uplifts us all? Ultimately, if we were made to do more, then why aren’t we actually doing more? I like to think of this point in time as my greatest personal call and moment of testing. It was then that I had to ...
